The Tuscaloosa County School System serves more than 19,000 students across 36 campuses in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. We exist to educate and empower all students to become highly-skilled graduates, prepared to positively contribute to their community.

TCSS is the ninth-largest school district in Alabama, made up of 36 schools and more than 19,000 students.

In accordance with Alabama Administrative Code, TCSS will destroy special education and gifted records for students born in the year 2000 who were referred, evaluated, and/or identified as individuals with special education or gifted needs.
A parent/legal guardian, or former student who is 19 years of age or older, may obtain copies of these records by contacting the TCSS Special Education Department no later than June 24, 2026.

Thirteen schools across our district will be serving breakfast and lunch during June 2026, at no cost to families.
Anyone age 18 and under is invited to eat! They do not have to be a TCSS student.

The Tuscaloosa County School System has immediate opportunities for bus drivers. Our New Driver Training Class begins June 2.
These positions are part-time with full health benefits, retirement benefits, and opportunities to work more when you are available!
Due to the extreme cold, all Tuscaloosa County School System schools and offices will operate on a two-hour delay Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

The Tuscaloosa County Board of Education has selected Dr. Daniel Bray as the next Superintendent of the Tuscaloosa County School System.
Dr. Bray has served as TCSS Director of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction since 2021.
Dr. Bray’s appointment to the position of Superintendent is effective Friday, November 21.
